A new journal article co-authored by CIED Director Professor Benjamin Sovacool looks at the way perspectives on national energy transitions could be integrated to be able to explain the complexity of transitions. The three perspectives it aims to integrate are:
- Techno-economic: with roots in energy systems analysis and economics
- Socio-technical: with roots in sociology of technology, innovation studies, science and technology studies and evolutionary economics
- Political: with roots in political science and public policy
The researchers illustrate the application of their framework by comparing electricity transitions in Germany and Japan.
