Dr Paula Kivimaa et al have published a new paper that analyses socio-technical transition governance and public opinion in Finland. The paper uses Finnish public opinion data on low carbon transport innovation for its study, and argues that more systematic public engagement is required in transition management. The paper also highlights relevant geographic and demographic differences in public opinion, which in turn impact on the legitimacy of transition management processes, and further identifies opinion surveys as crucial components in building wider policy legitimacy.
